Boston and Toronto meet at Rogers Centre on Thursday night in the rubber match of a three-game set. The second-place Rays, losers of six of seven, and the third-place Orioles,  losers of three straight, are each slumping, and Boston is looking to take full advantage. Entering Thursday, the Red Sox hold a three-game lead over the Rays and a six-game lead over the O’s.

Jake Peavy gets the ball for the Red Sox, making his third start for them since being acquired from the White Sox in a Trade Deadline deal. He was solid in his first time out for Boston and his overall stats are 9-4 with 4.50 ERAPeavy is 2-0 with a 3.60 ERA and 1.086 WHIP over five career starts vs the Blue Jays and he is absolutely flawless in his opening innings, not allowing a run in 11 consecutive games.

Mark Buehrle, Peavy’s former White Sox teammate, gets the ball for Toronto. The veteran left-hander has been a very solid pitcher at home this season, where he’s 6-2 with a 3.09 ERA. Overall he is 8-7 with 4.43 ERA. What about his 1st innings performance? He has allowed a run in 1st inning only 2 times in his last 11 starts.

Obviously we will have solid starting pitchers tonight and we hope that they will be solid in the 1st inning, so take the Under and GL!
