The playoff contention between Rockies and Dodgers will continue tonight in game two from the three-game series. Very important game for both teams after the yesterday’s opening game where Dodgers took the win (10-8) even though Kershaw didn’t show quality start. In the 1st game there were plenty of hits and runs – 33 hits and 18 runs. We think that today the situation will be different, when we know who will be on the mound for both teams.

Rockies will send their hot pitcher Jhoulys Chacin, who is 13-7 with 3.08 ERA this year. The righty has established himself atop the Rockies‘ rotation, posting a 2.11 ERA over his past 10 outings, nine of which were quality starts. On Wednesday, Chacin put together the longest no-hit bid for a Rockies pitcher at Coors Field before giving up a single to the Giants’ Brandon Crawford with two outs in the seventh inning. He exited after that frame, having struck out nine and walked two. This season Chacin has 3 starts against Dodgers and he is flawless in his 1st innings – not allowing a run. In addition, when we talk about 1st innings performance, Chacin is the best pitcher in MLB. He has 21 scoreless 1st innings in a row, while his overall balance is 24-2 (i.e. 24 scoreless 1st innings – 2 1st innings where he allowed a run). This performance cannot be missed and is just outstanding.

For Dodgers Ricky Nolasco has picked up the mound in this crucial game. The right-hander, who is 11-9 with 3.26 this year, is on the heels of a career-best month. Nolasco, 6-1 with a 2.20 ERA for Dodgers after the move from Marlins, went 5-0 in six August outings, producing a 1.64 ERA. He is really hot right now making consecutive starts of eight scoreless innings, holding the opposition to five total hits, with one walk and 17 strikeouts. In Noloasco’s last 16 starts, he has allowed a run in 1st innings only 3 times.

Obviously tonight we will have solid starting pitchers with oustanding stats in the opening innings, so take the Under and GL!
